Today was a LONG but awesome day. We got up early for my favorite breakfast here at the team house. It was that Baked Oatmeal/bread with fresh bananas and homemade fruit juice. YUM! We headed off to Quebrada Honda and set up camp at a site where the First Baptist here in Matagalpa is trying to plant a new church. I worked in the pharmacy again today while Spenc sat by Dr. Weaver just taking all of it in/chatting with the patients. Big is amazing at moving drugs. And by that I of course mean than he really keeps everyone in the pharmacy going. He's doing so great. Chris had his little friend Pepe that he spent a lot of time with today. Didnt't speak much, but he was cute as a button. Pepe that is. We had a lot of help from different church members to pray and talk with the people from the community. It was a great time. After lunch, we had a surprise surgery. A little boy that was 7 had a big cyst under his arm so Dr. Rhett decided to help him out. Everyone was trying to get me over there because they know I get queasy (spelling anyone?) around blood. I of course stayed far away while Spenc literally held the boy's hand and shielded his face from seeing anything. I waited outside the little area and saw that his grandmother who had brought him to the clinic was sitting there crying. I know that I hate blood and I couldn't help in that way, but the heart that the Lord's put in me was all for comforting that lady. I went and sat with her and prayed and tried to assure her that everything was going to be okay. Spenc obviously has a heart to physically help the sick. It's awesome that we both have hearts for restoration and we both got to experience being used by the Lord in such a powerful way in that moment.
We finished up in Quebrada Honda and tried to leave. It had been raining pretty hard and finally let up but the mud there literally was a close relative of tar. Talk about sticky. We all tied plastic bags around our shoes and pray we'd make it to the bus. Most of us did.
Tonight the team had a baby shower for some friends here in Nica. It was so fun. Cake and rice pudding and all kind of fun.
Everyone's settling in for the night so I better go but tomorrow we hit monkey park for none other than a celebration with the school. Go figure. :) I love school here.
Buenas noches,
M.

Thanks for the pic and the update on the blog, as always! Wow, do you really "teach" school or just party all the time. Do they have CRCT tests they have to pass to move on to the next grade or AYP for the schools? Have a great time in the Lord. I am defending Creationism in a Darwin world here today. The Lord is using me too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pictures and the blog updates. I am keeping y'all in prayer, and I daily rejoice and thank God for giving y'all the hearts that He did and for y'all for listening to His tuggle and taking action. I am so proud of you! God is amazing!
